Hey there, sweet mama friend.
When your child comes to you with something hard, your first instinct may be to jump in.
To give adviceā¦
To fix the problemā¦
To tell them what to do to avoid painā¦
But sometimes, mama, they don’t need an answer. They just need to know they’ve been heard.
James 1:19 says, āEveryone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.ā
So when your child opens up, try slowing down.
Put down what you’re doing.
Look them in the eyes.
Ask questions.
Listen to understandānot just to prepare your response.
And resist the urge to immediately turn their struggle into a lesson.
There will be a time to guide them, correct them, or offer wisdom. But first, let them know their feelings are safe with you and their voice matters.
Because when our children know we’ll listen, they’re more likely to keep coming to usāand that’s something we want to protect.
Thanks for spending this minute with me.
āØCarry this with you today…
Sometimes your child doesn’t need you to fix the moment. They just need you to be present in it.
